This agreement was signed by the President of the CESE of the Kingdom of Morocco, Ahmed Reda Chami and the President of the CESE of the French Republic, Thierry Beaudet, the CESE said in a press release.

On this occasion, the two Councils launched projects relating to priority areas, in particular citizen participation and the analysis of controversies in the formulation of opinions and recommendations to inform public action, the same source specifies.

The aim of these projects is to contribute to better citizen ownership of public policies and ultimately the consecration of participatory democracy.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Chami, quoted in the press release, stressed the essential role played in this dynamic by the economic and social councils (ESCs).

He also stressed the importance of combining the power of proposal and constructive contribution in the process of co-construction of innovative solutions in terms of sustainable development.

In the same vein, Mr. Beaudet highlighted the unique contribution of the ESCs as spaces for peaceful dialogue on complex issues requiring demanding consensus.

He also indicated that the above-mentioned framework agreement will provide new impetus to a process of deeper cooperation between the two institutions.
