Men in Ecuador expect to earn an average salary of USD 850, while the average salary sought by women is USD 786.

The average salary expectation in Ecuador was USD 823, according to the Labor Market Index, prepared by the employment portal Multitrabajos. The average salary to which Ecuadorians aspire had an increase of 2.41%, compared to the measurement of April 2024.

Jeff Morales, Marketing Manager at Multitrabajos, believes that this reflects a positive trend in the Ecuadorian labor market, taking into account that in April “it experienced a considerable decrease compared to the rest of the year.”

As for expected remuneration based on seniority or hierarchy, there is also an upward trend in salary expectations, especially in middle management positions. These are the salary expectations, based on levels of work experience:

The average salary for manager or supervisor roles is USD 1,129, an increase of 0.38% compared to April this year. At this level, positions in the international finance area have the highest intended salary: USD 2,250.

For senior and semi-senior positions, the salary target was set at USD 863, an increase of 2.84%. Applications for middle-level roles in the energy sector (mining, oil and gas) show the highest target: USD 1,700.

At junior levels, the monthly salary is USD 535, a slight change of 0.04% compared to April. The industrial safety area leads with the highest salary claim for junior positions, reaching USD 700.

Women aspire to lower salaries The gender gap in salary expectations was 8% in favour of men. While women aspire to earn USD 786 per month, men expect to receive USD 850, that is, USD 64 more. On the other hand, on the Multitrabajos portal, 61.6% of applications come from male candidates, in contrast to 38.4% of female responses to the advertisements.
