Announced in the spring, Ikea has now announced the launch date for its new furniture collection for gamers. However, the most important information is still pending.
Ikea’s new collection of furniture for PC and console gamers will be launched on August 31st. The Swedish furniture retailer announced this on its website. The name “Brännboll” is the Swedish word for burnball – a popular catch and run game.
Compared to previous Ikea furniture for gamers, the “Brännboll” series focuses on “low seating, storage space and accessories, all of which share clever functions and a playful design,” the website says.
According to Ikea, the focus of the 20 products from the new series is on seating. These include ergonomic chairs that have been specially developed for “gaming postures and scenarios”. They also include an inflatable chair and an armchair.
The “Brännboll” chair is designed to swing the player from side to side in accordance with their movements, writes Ikea. The designer responsible, David Wahl, says: “I was inspired by how people move when playing video games and wanted to create a chair that activates the player to improve this interaction.” He hopes that his piece of furniture will lead to a more exciting and intense experience.
Other furniture includes “a gaming station with a folding table top” and “integrated PC tower storage system and cable management.” There are also numerous storage solutions such as a wall cabinet, casters, side tables and a basket that also serves as a movable, free-standing table.
Although the launch date is now known, another important piece of information is still missing: the price. Ikea has not yet commented on this.
