China will continue to promote a political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and will take further steps depending on how the situation develops. This was stated at a briefing by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Lin Jian, commenting on the visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to Beijing, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
“China highly appreciates Hungary’s efforts to promote a political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis,” Lin Jian said. “China will also continue to actively promote peace talks in its own way and will decide on further steps depending on how the situation develops.”
He added that China is ready to continue to maintain contacts with all interested parties in order to jointly create favorable conditions for a political settlement of the crisis.
On July 8, Orban met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and exchanged views on prospects for resolving the Ukrainian crisis. On July 5, he discussed possible ways to resolve the conflict and begin peace talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. On July 2, Orban discussed the same issue with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a visit to Kyiv.
