Azerbaijani art is presented within the framework of the second International Turkuaz Festival in Toronto (Canada), organized by the Turkuaz Foundation of Turkic Art and Culture, Day.Az reports with reference to the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with Diaspora.
As part of the festival, with the support of the Azerbaijani Diaspora Support Fund (ADDF), the Azerbaijan pavilion was opened in Mel Lastman Square, where literature on the country’s culture, traditions and history was presented. Students of the Sunday school “My Azerbaijan”, operating at the House of Azerbaijan in Canada, performed a number of dance numbers under the direction of Orkhan Islamov.
The main goal of the Turkuaz festival is to promote and preserve Turkic heritage and culture. The festival also featured representatives from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and other Turkic nations. The co-founders of the Turkuaz Foundation for Turkic Arts and Culture are Nasrin Attari and Shervin Shadpour. Participants spoke about the importance of cultural diversity in Canada and the important contribution of the Turkic community to Canadian society.
