/ Hamas received a proposal from Paris allowing an initial 40-day halt to all Israeli military operations, according to a senior official close to the temporary truce talks in Gaza.

The official added in his statement to Reuters that the Paris proposal includes a commitment to allow 500 aid trucks to enter Gaza daily and provide thousands of tents and caravans, as well as allowing the repair of bakeries and hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

The official told Reuters that the Paris proposal stipulates an exchange of Palestinian prisoners and Israeli detainees at a ratio of 10 to one, noting that the proposal stipulates the release of all Israeli detainees, including women, children under 19, and the elderly, in exchange for the release of a number of Palestinian detainees.

The source added that the “Paris proposal” allows for the gradual return of displaced civilians to northern Gaza, with the exception of males of military service age.

This comes as US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that Israel had agreed not to carry out military activities in the Gaza Strip during the month of Ramadan.

Biden warned that Israel risks losing support from the rest of the world as Palestinian deaths continue to rise in large numbers.

Biden added, in an interview with NBC, that Israel had committed to enabling Palestinians to evacuate from Rafah in southern Gaza before intensifying its campaign there to destroy Hamas.
