President Yoon Seok-yeol arrived in Washington, D.C., U.S. on the 10th (local time) to attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit.

The presidential plane (Air Force One) carrying President Yoon and his wife Kim Kun-hee landed at Joint Base Andrews near Washington, D.C. at approximately 6:53 a.m. that day.

On the U.S. side, the State Department’s chief of protocol and the Andrews Air Force greeter came out to welcome him, while on the Korean side, Ambassador to the U.S. Cho Hyun-dong and his wife, and Ambassador to NATO Yoo Jeong-hyun (Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union) came out to welcome him.

President Yoon waved goodbye and then stepped off the plane holding hands with First Lady Kim.

President Yoon wore a dark blue suit with an olive tie, while Ms. Kim wore a beige one-piece dress.

President Yoon and his wife shook hands with each of the welcoming guests and then boarded the vehicle and left the base.

President Yoon, who began his two-day U.S. visit in Hawaii on the 8th and 9th, will continue his two-day NATO summit schedule starting today.

First, President Yoon plans to hold relay bilateral meetings with NATO member countries and discuss various pending issues.

President Yoon will also meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to hold a Japan-South Korea summit for the first time in about a month and a half.

Also, this afternoon, President Yoon and his wife will attend a social dinner hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden and his wife.

A separate meeting is scheduled for the morning of the 11th, the following day, with the four Indo-Pacific IP4 countries (Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand).

On the same day, President Yoon will attend the NATO Allies and Partners Summit, which will be attended by 32 NATO allies, four IP4 countries, and the European Union (EU).

In addition, President Yoon plans to speak at the NATO Public Forum, a public diplomacy event co-hosted by NATO and five think tanks from Europe and the United States.

President Yoon plans to use the NATO summit as an opportunity to emphasize the need for international cooperation on North Korea-Russia military cooperation issues and seek joint response measures.
