Electricity completes the first phase of the campaign to relieve bottlenecks in four governorates

The Ministry of Electricity announced today, Tuesday, the completion of the first phase of the campaign to resolve bottlenecks in electricity networks in the governorates of (Basra – Maysan – Dhi Qar – Muthanna).

A statement by the ministry received by the (INA) stated that “the first phase included equipping new stations and transformers, and extending electrical wires and poles, with the aim of improving the quality of service provided to citizens and enhancing the stability of the electrical network in the region.”
The statement explained that “the campaign in Basra Governorate included equipping and installing 55 11 kV transformers, installing 910 poles of different sizes, equipping and extending 54 thousand meters of aluminum wires, equipping and extending 1600 meters of high-voltage cables, and equipping and extending 18 thousand meters of low-voltage cables,” noting that “the first phase included the areas of Al-Qurna, Al-Madinah, Al-Dayr, Al-Zubair, Al-Jumhuriyah, Al-Qibla, Al-Faw, North Basra, Al-Ashar, Abu Al-Khaseeb, and 5 Mile.”
He added that “the campaign in Maysan Governorate included equipping and installing 172 11 kV transformers, installing 910 poles of different sizes, equipping and extending 1,750 thousand meters of aluminum wires, equipping and extending 20 thousand meters of high-voltage cables, and equipping and extending 4 thousand meters of low-voltage cables,” indicating that “the areas covered by the campaign are West Amara, East Amara, and North Amara.”
The statement continued, “The campaign included in Dhi Qar Governorate the preparation and installation of 88 11 kV transformers, the installation of 6,000 poles of different sizes, the preparation and extension of 83,000 meters of aluminum wires, the preparation and extension of 100 meters of high-voltage cables, and the preparation and extension of 24,000 meters of low-voltage cables. The first phase included the areas of: Shatra, Al-Gharraf, Al-Rifai, Al-Qalaa, Sumer, Al-Nour, Al-Jamiah, Al-Shamiya, Al-Shaala, Al-Shumoukh, Al-Iskan, Al-Bathaa, Al-Ghadeer, Al-Shuhada, Ur, Al-Souq, Al-Shumou, Al-Karma, Al-Jabaish, Al-Manar, Al-Islah, Al-Fuhoud, and Sayyid Dakhil.”
The statement explained that “the campaign in Muthanna Governorate is to install 2 11/33 kV stations, equip and install 68 11 kV transformers, install 12,000 poles of different sizes, equip and extend 64,000 meters of aluminum wires, equip and extend 2,000 meters of high-voltage cables, and equip and extend 12,000 meters of low-voltage cables. The first phase included the areas of: Samawah, Rumaitha, Al-Khader, Al-Sagheer, Al-Warka, and Al-Sub Al-Kabeer.”
He stressed that “the Ministry of Electricity’s staff is working with all its might and with full mobilization to meet the increasing demand for energy in the summer months and to modernize and rehabilitate the electrical networks, and has begun the second phase of the campaign over the past two days.”
