Actress Penelope Frego graces the latest issue of the erotic magazine “Playboy”. However, not everyone is happy with the casting.
Actress Penelope Frego has stripped off for the cover of the new issue of the erotic magazine “Playboy”. With her nude photos, the South Tyrolean, who viewers know primarily from the series “Unter uns”, wants to help normalize the way we deal with female nudity.
“Nudity is perceived as much more natural in men, but in women it is much more easily seen as taboo, and I want to free them from that,” explains the 31-year-old in an interview with “Playboy”. “If I have a message in my pictures, then that is exactly what it is: the destigmatization of the female body.”
Penelope Frego continues: “Of course there has been progress in recent years. For example, being able to lie topless on the beach and go into the water as a woman is something wonderful.” She does this on the cover of the magazine: she can be seen naked and sitting in the water on the beach with wet hair.
Being naked in front of the camera is no problem for Penelope Frego. Quite the opposite: the number of clothes you wear in a role does not always say anything about the intimacy. “I have had kissing scenes or situations that involved certain emotions that were much closer to me than nude scenes.”
She also wants to stand up for naturalness with her pictures. Although she “really enjoys putting on make-up”, surgery has not been an option up to now. “Because I think you become dependent on most procedures and I don’t like that feeling. Botox, for example – you have to keep getting top-ups.” Even a manicure would be a form of dependency for the actress.
The 31-year-old received numerous compliments for the social media cover, which has already been published on Instagram. She can be seen in an unusual gray bikini. “Beautiful photo!” wrote one person. “Really very aesthetic,” reads another comment.
However, some users also expressed their displeasure under the post – because they would have preferred to see a female athlete on the cover. The current issue is an Olympic special, which is why many people feel that the actress was miscast.
“Olympic issue without female athletes? Either we are witnessing the beginning of the end of the German ‘Playboy’. Or simply a first-class failure. The pictures are three and a half years old and it gives the impression of a hastily put-together replacement solution,” criticized one fan, but emphasized that this criticism was not directed at Penelope Frego, but at ‘Playboy’. Someone else commented: “When will the female athletes come? After the Olympics?”
Also read: “Phew, something really went wrong there. The first time in years (since the nineties, I suspect) an Olympic edition without a female athlete.” And further: “What the hell happened there, dear ‘Playboy’ team?”.
