The Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit chaired, on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Wilaya region of the Souss-Massa region, an extended meeting aimed at examining the progress of the preparations of the city of Agadir for the organization of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

This meeting, attended by the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa and the Wali of the Souss-Massa region, the governor of the prefecture of Agadir Ida-Outanane, Said Amzazi, brought together the various actors involved in these. preparations.

On this occasion, an update was given in particular on the development and infrastructure projects planned to enable the city of Agadir to host this global football event, according to the requirements of the International Football Federation (FIFA), to focus on infrastructure related to stadiums, training centres, air transport and mobility, as well as accommodation, connectivity and sustainable development.

In addition, integrated management mechanisms were presented for the projects registered as part of those preparations in order to strengthen the monitoring, governance, control and implementation of the projects within the allocated deadlines.

Speaking at this meeting, Laftit emphasized the great contribution of the Agadir Urban Development Program (PDU) 2020-2024, launched by King Mohammed VI, to promoting the tourist and economic attractiveness of the city.

He emphasized the need to mobilize all stakeholders as well as all the necessary methods to speed up the implementation of the projects launched in the city of Agadir to be ready within the set deadlines and contribute to the organization successful Football World Cup 2030 i. Morocco, as well as the sporting events that the Kingdom will hold before this global event, especially the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Morocco-2025).

For his part, Lekjaa emphasized in a statement to the press at the end of this meeting, that this meeting takes place within the framework of monitoring the progress of the preparations for the organization of mega sports events in Morocco, including the Football Cup the World 2030.

And to add that the city of Agadir, thanks in particular to the PDU, its strong potential in terms of infrastructure as well as its rich cultural and civil heritage, is qualified to host major international sporting events.

This meeting comes after an extended meeting was held in Rabat as part of the intensive preparations for organizing the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. A similar meeting was also held in Fez and Casablanca.
