The American digital giant Microsoft has decided to buy carbon credits for the equivalent of 500,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) in six years from 1PointFive, a subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum. According to both companies, this is the largest credit redemption made using direct carbon capture technology in the air. This comes as the UN warned on Thursday July 10 of the growing consequences of digital activities on the environment.
