Azerbaijani judokas have collected an impressive harvest of awards in the international arena. As of the beginning of the second half of the year, 129 awards (39-30-60) were won in the total number of performances at the adult, cadet, junior and veteran levels, and ninth place in the world medal table of ranks.

As reported by İdman.biz, in terms of the number of awards won, we are ahead of the founders of judo, who have 38 highest, 18 silver and 37 bronze medals.

Of course, the historical result at the World Championship in Abu Dhabi is indicative, where Hidayat Geydarov (73 kg) and Zelim Kotsoev (100 kg) won the title. And in terms of results at the World Judo Tour tournaments, the home “Grand Slam” was fruitful, where the hosts of the tatami scored a golden hat-trick: Zelim Tsakaev (81 kg), Murad Fatiyev (90 kg) and Hidayat Geydarov (73 kg) climbed to the top step of the podium. We should not forget about the European Championship, where Hidayat Geydarov (73 kg) and Eljan Gadzhiev (81 kg) climbed to the top step of the podium. By the way, Eljan has already distinguished himself five times this season: he competed in the Grand Slam finals in Paris and Tbilisi, and also took bronze at a similar tournament in Astana and the Grand Prix in Portugal.

In the overall medal standings, France leads the way with 112 gold, 96 silver and 165 bronze medals. Next comes Georgia (62-51-87), and Germany (61-51-82) rounds out the top three.
