This morning, Tuesday, Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmed Al-Mubarqa inspected the progress of work at Al-Rusafa Stadium (Amo Baba), with a capacity of 30,000 spectators, which is being implemented by the Spanish company Tri Arena.
A statement by the Ministry of Youth and Sports received by the (INA) stated that “Al-Mubarqa’ conducted a field tour, during which he was briefed on the work sections, accompanied by the Director General of the Engineering and Technical Affairs Department, Abdul Khaliq Khader, and the Managing Director of the Spanish company implementing the project.”
The statement added that “the minister directed to accelerate the pace of work, after he made a number of observations regarding several paragraphs in the project, stressing that the ministry is keen to complete all its projects, including stadiums and sports facilities, indicating that the Rusafa stadium is one of the important stadiums that will be added to the stadiums of the capital, Baghdad.”
The actual completion rate of the stadium reached 67%, and a number of work paragraphs were opened, including: finishing the metal structure in the VIP area, in addition to producing and installing the casting parts (precast) in the sections where the metal structure was completed. As for the hotel building, the second section of the first floor was cast, the stairs between the ground floor and the first floor were cast, and the columns of the external fence were cast with a length of 110 m, as well as the fence of the southern side with a length of 240 m.
The project includes a main stadium with a capacity of (30) thousand spectators, in addition to two secondary training stadiums, the first with a capacity of (2000) spectators, and the other with a capacity of (500) spectators, a hotel building, a private parking lot, and green spaces.
