New Delhi: If you have reached Delhi by train and you have to go somewhere in Delhi-NCR by metro, then now you will be able to book the ticket for metro travel in advance along with the train ticket. Similarly, if you have to reach the railway station by metro and catch a train from there to go somewhere, then also you will be able to book train and metro tickets together from the same online platform. Just as a reserved train ticket can be booked four months i.e. 120 days in advance, similarly the ticket for metro travel can also be booked 120 days in advance. Not only this, if the train is late in reaching the destination or arrives early or misses the train and the passenger has to catch another train, then in that case the metro ticket will be valid for 2 days before and 2 days after the scheduled date of travel. That is, even if you reach early or late, your money will not be wasted and you will be able to travel with the same metro ticket. If for any reason the train ticket has to be cancelled, then the metro ticket can also be cancelled along with it.

One India One Ticket initiative

IRCTC, DMRC and CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Service) have joined hands to promote the ‘One India, One Ticket’ initiative and provide convenient ticket booking facilities to passengers. These three organizations will work together in mutual cooperation to improve the travel experience for main line railway and metro passengers in the Delhi-NCR region. Under this, Delhi Metro’s QR code ticket can now be booked through IRCTC’s website and mobile app as well.

Beta version of IRCTC app launched

On Wednesday, the beta version of IRCTC’s mobile app was launched, which will currently run on phones with Android operating system. Feedback will be taken from people for the next three to four months and based on that, the full version of the app will be launched after making necessary improvements or changes. On the occasion of the launch, many other senior officials including IRCTC CMD Sanjay Kumar Jain and DMRC MD Dr. Vikas Kumar were also present.

According to DMRC, the QR codes of all the passengers for whom metro tickets with QR codes will be booked will be printed on the train tickets. If the passenger wants, he can take a print out of the ticket and keep it with him, take a screenshot on his phone or download the ticket and save it on the phone.

You will get relief from long queues for metro tickets

However, the metro ticket will be valid for a single journey only. This new facility will greatly benefit those people who come to Delhi from outside for some work and do not use smart cards. Such people will not have to stand in long queues to get metro tickets at metro stations adjacent to railway stations. They will leave the railway station, reach the metro station and can go ahead by boarding the train directly.
