14 injured after fire – hundreds of emergency services on scene

On Monday night, a fire broke out in the entrance area of an eleven-story apartment block in Spreitenbach AG for reasons that have not yet been clarified. 14 people were injured, one of them seriously. Another 31 people were temporarily evacuated.
For unknown reasons, the fire broke out in the entrance area of the apartment building, and with that the fire department was informed through a fire alarm system at 2:50 am Aargau cantonal police told a reporter from the news agency Keystone-SDA on the scene.
The smoke quickly spread through the stairs. Residents called the emergency number because they noticed smoke in their apartment. The fire was quickly extinguished, police said, but the cause of the fire was still unclear. The evacuees were able to return to their homes this morning.

Hundreds of emergency services were on the scene, as well as the fire brigade, police and medical services, as well as the disaster response element of the Canton of Aargau (KKE). Police initially assumed 19 people were injured due to smoke inhalation. Five of them got up quickly when they were outside, the police said.
The striking apartment building is located on Bahnhofstrasse in Spreitenbach in a residential area with many high-rise buildings. The Spreitenbach-Killwangen fire department has its magazine just a few hundred meters away. The cantonal police are still looking for witnesses to clarify the cause of the fire.
