In this situation, Dhanasekaran, who contested for the DMK in the 137th ward under the KK Nagar constituency, won by a maximum of 10,583 votes. In this ward, Danasekaran from DMK, Palani from AIADMK and Yuvraj from BJP contested. In this, DMK candidate Danasekaran won with a total of 15,568 votes. AIADMK candidate Palani got 4,985 votes and BJP candidate Yuvraj got 2,679 votes. It is noteworthy that Dhanasekaran won by a large margin of 200 votes in Chennai.
It is noteworthy that in the last assembly elections, Virugambakkam had expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership for not giving him a seat in the constituency.
