During Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to China, there will be an unprecedented development in the trading and investment situation of Bangladesh and China in the coming days. The trade balance between these two countries will come to a very acceptable place. General Secretary of Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCCI) Al Mamun Mridha said that they are getting very positive response from Chinese businessmen in this conference.

He said these things to RisingBD in connection with the conference titled ‘The Rise of Bengal Tiger: Trade and Investment Opportunities between Bangladesh and China’ held in the Chinese capital Beijing on Wednesday (July 10).

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the conference titled ‘The Rise of Bengal Tiger: Trade and Investment Opportunities between Bangladesh and China’ on Tuesday (July 9).

BCCCI General Secretary said, Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the co-hosts of Bangladesh Trade and Investment Summit. About 1000 Chinese investors or businessmen have been invited to this conference on our behalf. Those who are doing business with Bangladesh or want to do business with Bangladesh in the future, as well as they are interested in academic discussions about what kind of new windows can be opened with Bangladesh in the future. We have invited such stakeholders to this investment summit. We are getting very positive response from them.

He said that Chinese investors have been called upon to invest in Bangladesh to continue the progress that is being made in Bangladesh. The main objective and aim of this business summit is to bring greater investment in our important sectors. Bangladesh China Chamber has been playing this role for the last two decades. In 2003, China’s trade with Bangladesh was less than 1.5 billion dollars. The Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industries has acted as one of the catalysts behind the expansion of China’s private sector business with Bangladesh over the past two decades. We believe that we can increase these activities in the future.

He said, we have new deals where we have dedicated desks, dedicated secretaries to provide dedicated services to investors. We have a separate legal panel to meet all of our trade disputes. There are various exhibitions in China that can benefit the business people in Bangladesh in many ways. The assurance we got from the Chinese is that there will be a special discount or privilege for Bangladesh. Bangladeshis can come here as visitors in the coming days.

He said that as many members of the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry have been assured by the Chinese Embassy that they can get visas easily. So that the contacts between the two countries increase to a greater extent. Also, both the countries are working so that we can coordinate with the large delegation of Chinese investors who will come to Bangladesh in the coming days. We hope that by the end of this year, we may see a version of the first Chinese Investment and Trade Summit in Bangladesh. Hoping to organize a large-scale Chinese investor conference.
