As bar manager Tomas Jungaitis commented to the news portal “What’s happening in Neringa”, the idea came from colleagues in Kaunas, and it also worked out in the bar established in Nida.
“Maybe it didn’t look good on the door, but the urinal was the most suitable place for that sticker.” Especially after drinking beer…
We are very supportive of Ukraine, there is that anger, the fact that when more beer is drunk, everyone goes there and gives 100%. foundation, thus reminding of what is happening”, said the bar manager.
The Genys Garden team has a clear position and adheres to it to the end. If people who support the aggressor country visit the bar, they are told to go elsewhere, as they will not be served here.
“In the first year, when there were still some of them here roses, we did not serve it. Of course, it’s gone now. We hung up the Ukrainian flag from the beginning, we announced our position, we do not accept any other position, we are absolutely categorical,” the bar manager emphasized his support for Ukraine.
According to him, foreigners coming to the bar who deny the ongoing war in Ukraine are unwelcome, and their attempts to show their truth are not accepted.
“100 percent the Russians were alone, they had already come with a Russian carriage and then they started speaking Russian right away, without even asking if we understood. So we greeted them with the greeting “Slava Ukraini”, they said something of their own and we said that we will not serve them.
After that, he came out of the toilet alone, said “oh, our president is there in the toilet…” and then declared that he would not buy anything from us. We are not really sad”, T. Jungaitis laughed.
When asked if there are any problems with the Putin sticker in the toilet, the bar manager notes that most visitors are very happy to welcome this interactive art installation, but there are also some less intelligent visitors.
“There were those who, when they came to the toilet, refused to do a little business on Putin and did a little next to us.
The collective didn’t complain, but last year there were definitely one or two of them per week. But as far as we are concerned, because the team has already cut off the system, when it is necessary to go to check, there were a lot of elderly people from Germany. You could see them immediately – happy or annoyed, they leave the toilet,” said T. Jungaitis about the inappropriate behavior of visitors.
He assures that even if such vandals appear, the premises are maintained and always in order. Because the majority of visitors like to stay here, enjoy the idea of a bar.
“Anyway, it puts a smile on everyone’s face, everyone comes back and orders another glass to go and do it again.” Others take stickers so that they can stick them in the toilet at home,” said T. Ungaitis about the positive feedback from visitors.
The manager of the bar is not annoyed by such visitors and understands that there are units of people with such a position.
“Perhaps our position of support is such that we will not get tired and support Ukraine,” said T.Jungaitis.
