The ‘Pyeongtaek City Advertisement Clean Zone Citizens’ Promotion Group’ was organized last month to establish a proper advertising culture and foster an atmosphere of voluntary participation by citizens, and is comprised of the Pyeongtaek branch of the Gyeonggi-do Outdoor Advertising Association, the Pyeongtaek City Academy Association, the Godeok-taek Ground Floor Shopping Association, the Pyeongtaek Godeok Small Business Association, and the Godeok Samsung Merchants Association.

At the workshop held that day, the current status of illegal outdoor advertisements in the newly developed Godeok New Town was shared and measures to prevent this were intensively discussed, as well as solutions to prevent the indiscriminate attachment of window advertisements (sheets) that damage the cityscape.

The promotion team proposed to promote a project to legalize outdoor advertisements in the pilot area in order to create a pilot area for advertising cleanliness. ‘Liberation of outdoor advertisements’ refers to a system that temporarily reports and permits existing unapproved and unreported signboards that have not been approved or reported but have been legally installed in accordance with standards, etc., and signboards that have not been extended after the expiration of the period for previously approved signboards.

In addition, the participation of organizations representing each industry and related organizations such as fire stations, sending out notices to advertisers to promote and guide the Godeok New Town Advertisement Clean Pilot Area Development Project, and the ZERO illegal advertisement campaign in the Godeok New Town area by members of the citizen promotion group were discussed.

City officials said, “Together with the civic promotion group, we will create a clean advertising city in Godeok New Town with the public and private sectors working together to create a clean and beautiful new city.”
