/ A source in the Iraqi Football Association reported on Sunday that some changes were made in the ranks of the first football team.

The source told Agency, “The most prominent change is the former international player, Mahdi Karim, the administrative director of the national team,” indicating that “the decision is not new, but it has been in place for some time, due to some administrative errors during his work.”

The source added, “Among the names excluded are also some administrators who are working on the players’ comfort,” noting that “the federation will discuss the names of the substitutes later in order to take over their mission for the next stage.”

The Iraqi national team bid farewell to the Asian Cup last week, after a difficult loss to its Jordanian counterpart, who scored a fatal goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time after the end of regular time in the controversial match, especially after it witnessed the expulsion of Iraqi striker Ayman Hussein.

Following this, the Iraqi Football Association announced that it had filed a complaint with the 2023 Asian Cup Organizing Committee regarding its match with Jordan, which witnessed an unfair refereeing controversy by Iranian referee Alireza Faghani.
