The United States, aiming to finish top of the overall standings at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has fielded a team with more women than men.

The Associated Press reported on the 11th (Korean time) that the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee announced the list of 592 players for the Paris Olympics team.

There were more women on the list, 314 (53.04%), than men, 278 (49.96%).

The United States has sent more women than men to the Olympics for four consecutive Games, starting with the 2012 London Olympics.

The youngest member of Team USA is gymnastics’ Hazel Rivera, at 16. Equestrian’s Stephan Peters is the oldest at 59.

The U.S. swimmer with the most Olympic medals is Katie Ledecky, who has won seven gold medals and three silver medals in the 2012 London, 2016 Rio, and 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Gymnastics’ Simone Biles and men’s swimming’s Caleb Dressel are next with seven, while men’s swimming’s Ryan Murphy has six.

Ledecky, Brady Ellison (archery), Gerald Meinhardt (fencing), Stu McNay (sailing) and Vincent Hancock (shooting) are all making their fourth Olympic appearances.

“We will join the proud cheers of American fans in the spirit of ‘One for All,’” said Sarah Hershland, president of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

Gracenote projects that the United States will win first place overall at the Paris Olympics with 123 medals, including 37 golds.

The United States ranked first overall at the previous Olympics, the 2021 Tokyo Games, with 39 gold, 41 silver, and 33 bronze medals.
