Consumer price inflation in Romania fell for the fifth consecutive month in June to the lowest level in nearly three years, according to data released today by the Romanian National Statistics Institute, DPA reported.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation was reported at 4.9 percent year-on-year in June, up from 5.1 percent in the previous month.

This is also the lowest level of inflation since July 2021, when the recorded price rise was also 4.9 percent.

The prices of non-food goods increased in June by 6.3 percent compared to the same month last year. In May, inflation of 6.4 percent was reported for this group of products.

Services have increased in price by 8.8 percent on an annual basis, although here there is a decrease compared to the previous month, when the increase was 9.3 percent, BTA reports.

The data also showed that food prices rose by 1.1 percent compared to June last year.

On a monthly basis in June, consumer prices in Romania rose by 0.2 percent.
