jpnn.com – YOGYAKARTA – State civil servants (ASN) who wish to run as regional head candidates in the 2024 Pilkada are reminded to resign as ASN before taking part in the nomination process.

The Yogyakarta City Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) reminded that this is in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

“It is expected that he will step down before the (nomination) process is carried out,” said the Coordinator of the Legal, Prevention, Community Participation and Public Relations Division of the Yogyakarta City Bawaslu, Siti Nurhayati in Yogyakarta, Tuesday (9/7).

According to Siti, these regulations have been stated in the 2020 KPU Regulation (PKPU) Article 7 paragraph (2) letter t of Law Number 10 of 2016 and Article 4 paragraph (1) letter u PKPU Number 18 of 2019.

He assessed that every citizen, including ASN, has the right to participate in the 2024 Pilkada as long as they follow existing regulations.

“If you want to enter the candidacy exchange, there are conditions, including resigning from ASN or TNI/Polri,” he said.

In addition, Siti also asked all parties to help oversee the neutrality of ASN so that during the regional election stages all services to the public are carried out professionally.

“For the city of Yogyakarta, thank God, reflecting on the 2024 Election, it was safe, but in the 2017 Pilkada, there were (violations of ASN neutrality) that occurred,” he said.
