(ANSA) – FLORENCE, JULY 12 – Tuscany has been awarded, as the leader, the resources made available by the National Blood Center for a project that aims at an efficient management of plasma-derived medicines thanks to a more effective interaction between the pharmaceutical network and the transfusion network, and the valorization of plasma as a strategic resource. The Tuscany Region announced this: the project, it is explained, was presented in partnership with Campania, Lazio, Marche and Molise, together with the IMT School of Advanced Studies of Lucca, the Polytechnic University of Marche, Takeda Manufacturing Italia and Kedrion Biopharma.
The idea of presenting a project on the management of plasma derivatives came after the five-year experience of managing the tender for plasma processing, which Tuscany conducted as the leader of the Planet agreement, and also thanks to the synergy with the pharmaceutical sector that led to savings in the region, in five years, over 20 million on the purchase of drugs. The goal, it is explained, is now to improve the integration between the pharmaceutical network and the transfusion network, optimizing the appropriateness of use of drugs and management of surpluses, as well as exchanging good practices. The expected result is to reduce the cost of purchasing drugs on the market by 10% and eliminate purchases in the presence of any internal availability of the Planet agreement or other interregional agreements. “The financing of this project represents for us an important recognition of the work carried out up to now and of the replicability of the Tuscan model also in other situations”, comments the president of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani. “The attention for the blood system in Tuscany is maximum – explains Simone Bezzini, councilor for the right to health -. We work constantly with the Local Health Authorities, professionals and donor associations to guarantee the presence of blood in our health system”.
