Thandayarpet police have registered a case against former minister Jayakumar under eight sections, including making death threats, using obscene language and using weapons, in connection with the incident in which DMK leader Naresh was handcuffed and dragged in a procession on the day of the urban local government election.

Jayakumar was arrested at his residence in Pattinambakkam on the night of the 21st by more than 100 policemen led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Prabhakar and Deputy Commissioner of Madhavaram Sundaravathanam. Poonamallee was later produced in court and remanded in custody.

The bail petition of former minister Jayakumar, who was arrested by the Thandayarpet police, came up for hearing in the Georgetown 15th Court today.

Following the attack on DMK leader Naresh, Jayakumar’s lawyer Selvam argued that the Thandayarpet police had registered a case of attempted murder (307) against Jayakumar and that he had reached the ordinary class instead of the first class in jail.

Following this, the public prosecutor submitted a video to the magistrate in the case of DMK leader Naresh’s assault, arguing that Jayakumar had told his volunteers to “take off his shirt and tie his shirt” and that the assassination attempt had been carried out.

Following the hearing, the judge dismissed the bail plea of ​​former minister Jayakumar.
