The National Government, in collaboration with the French Development Agency (AFD), will provide credit lines for the acquisition, construction and renovation of safe and earthquake-resistant housing in the province of Manabí.
These initiatives, they report, are aimed at benefiting citizens who are still facing difficulties in rebuilding their homes following the devastating earthquake that occurred on April 16, 2016.
The program, called “My House My Development,” will channel these funds through cooperatives associated with the National Corporation for Popular and Solidarity Finance (CONAFIPS).
In 2017, the French government provided an initial loan of USD 35 million specifically intended to support Manabí’s recovery following the natural disaster.
Since its establishment in 2015, the French Development Agency has played a crucial role in development projects in Ecuador.
“This new initiative seeks to provide essential resources so that the inhabitants of Manabí affected by the earthquake can rebuild safe and resilient homes.”
In addition, President Daniel Noboa highlighted that during his term, a total of USD 170 million in loans have been granted, benefiting various groups such as senior citizens, young people and entrepreneurs.
Of these, USD 25 million were directed to young entrepreneurs and USD 8 million were destined to older adults, according to data from CONAFIPS.
