The Baku House of Photography hosted an award ceremony for the winners of a painting competition dedicated to the ancient Icherisheher, as part of a series of #Icherisheherim events of the Icherisheher State Historical and Architectural Reserve Administration together with the State Art Academy and the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, the press service of the Administration told Day.Az.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Board of the State Historical and Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher” Shahin Seyidzade, deputies of the Milli Majlis of the 6th convocation Fazil Mustafa and Ulviya Gamzayeva, vice-rectors of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts, People’s Artists Salhab Mammadov and Fuad Salayev noted the importance of the project in promoting ancient heritage and supporting talents.
The main goal of the competition is to show the traditions, history and present day of Icherisheher through the eyes of artists.
The competition, which lasted two months, featured works by over 300 participants. The jury included People’s Artists Natig Aliyev, Farhad Khalilov, Salhab Mamedov, Aydin Radjabov and Aliyar Alimirzayev.
Seven best works were selected from forty selected works, diplomas and letters of gratitude, cash prizes were awarded (1st place – 1500 manats, 2nd place – 1000 manats, 3rd place – 500 manats and 4 artists – 250 manats as an incentive prize). Among the winners of the competition, the first three places were taken by Fakhriya Aliyeva (“Shah’s Palace”), Saida Musayeva (“Trace of the Fortress”) and Nazrin Khalafova (“Windy Day in Baku”). Incentive awards were received by Ramil Mammadov (“Mosque in Icherisheher”), Nazrin Mutallifli (“In Dreams”), Rashad Rzayev (“Cloudy Day”) and Samira Veliyeva (“Night Caravan”).
The guests then got acquainted with the #Icherisheherim exhibition, which will be open to visitors until August 10. Admission is free.
