A production plant for two-block sleepers (essential rail supports) will soon be operational in Guinea, more precisely in Alassoyah, in the prefecture of Forécariah.
The ceremony for laying the foundation stone of this building, which will be built on five (5) hectares, took place on Saturday, June 29, under the chairmanship of the heads of cabinet of the departments in charge of Mines and Commerce, who were accompanied by prefectural authorities, officials from the initiating company KADIMA SA and other distinguished guests.
According to our information, the initiative aims to revolutionize railways and promote local content. And the said factory will be composed of four (4) entities.
“There will be a workshop for the manufacture of steel reinforcements, a concrete plant as well as two production chips for the manufacture of sleepers and a laboratory for quality control. Indeed, strict compliance with a quality assurance plan in accordance with European standards ensures that each sleeper manufactured here is synonymous with quality, reliability and durability ready to remember the industrial autonomy of Guinea in railway infrastructure for a long time,” said Sébastian Thomas, Managing Director of ITB TRADETECH.
For the General Manager of KADIMAR SA, Amadou Oury Bah, Guinea is behind in terms of railways, hence, according to him, their commitment.
“We considered it necessary to send a sleeper production unit so that we can manufacture the sleepers here which are only made of raw materials (sand, concrete and cement)…”
Thanks to this production unit, more than 2 thousand direct and indirect jobs and the qualification of the local workforce will be a priority and in a sustainable manner. An opportunity that comforts the prefectural authority of Forécariah which has also committed to protecting this protection unit in its jurisdiction.
“I think we have heard too much, but this is what is happening on the ground today. I reassure this company that has just started this work that the support of the authority at all levels of Forécariah will not be lacking. Because its production will contribute to the development of my prefecture,” mentioned the prefect.
Another new feature is that all the inputs that go into the production of these sleepers will be made by partner companies. And respect for the environment and safety at work are taken seriously by the supervisory authority of all companies (Ministry of Commerce, Industry and SMEs).
“What is expected of this company is to provide this country with the same quality of work and the same results that we have elsewhere. So I would like to thank KADIMAR, which is a company under Guinean law, a company that has perfectly understood today the vision and the dynamics of the President of the Republic, General Mamadi Doumbouya,” insisted the chief of staff of the department in charge of Trade, Industry and SMEs.
The same story was told by the chief of staff of the Ministry of Mines and Geology, who said that it is possible to test in Guinea and succeed. And also make several other Guineans succeed.
Essential supports on the rails, sleepers play a crucial role in the architecture of the railway track. Therefore, the KADIMA company promises to produce quality sleepers for durability, reliability, perfectly meeting the geographical and climatic challenges of Guinea.
