The death of Benji Gregory has caused dismay. The “Alf” actor died at the age of 46. A fact that leaves voice actor Tommi Piper cold?

After the news of the sudden death of US actor Benji Gregory, there was a mixture of shock and sadness. The actor, who became known through his role as Brian Tanner in “Alf”, was only 46 years old. The circumstances of his death were a mystery – you can read more about it here. Numerous stars and former companions said goodbye to Gregory and expressed their condolences on social media.

Tommi Piper also spoke. He was the German voice of the eponymous alien and spoke in all 102 episodes of the 80s cult series Alf. But due to his long collaboration with the format, Piper does not seem to have developed a particularly emotional connection to “Alf” and its participants.

In a statement for RTL, the 83-year-old said: “Unfortunately, that’s life. I’ve had a great life because of Alf. I still get an incredible number of autograph requests because of that time. But it was 35 years ago, almost half a century.”

Piper continues: “And I never had any connections with the actors. That’s why the death of an actor doesn’t affect me. There are more important things in my life.” The actor and voice actor referred to a personal stroke of fate, saying: “I have to get by without my wife, who died three years ago.”

In contrast, Dirk Meyer, who voiced Brian Tanner in the German version of the series and was still a student at the time, was affected by Benji Gregory’s death. “The early death of US actor Benji Gregory is regrettable and touches me too, as US actor Benji Gregory was my first full-time role in a successful series,” Meyer told RTL.
