Ethiopia: Six candidates selected for the national competition for memorization and chanting of the Holy Quran of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema

The winners who will participate in the final phase of the competition were selected respectively in the categories of memorizing the entire Holy Quran with recitation according to the different readings and memorizing at least 5 Hizbs of the Holy Quran.

In the first category, Hassan Faiçal Ahmed came first, followed by Ibrahim Abderrahmane Aabdi and Dalha Abderrachid Ali.

As for memorizing at least 5 Hizbs of the Holy Quran, Mohammed Adam took the first place followed by Ilyass Noureddine and Ezeddine Said.

Some 56 candidates took part in the pre-selections in the categories of the competition of this contest which aims to promote the Holy Quran and perpetuate the Sunnah of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed (PSL) and to encourage the youth to appropriate and apply the noble teachings of Islam.

In an opening speech on behalf of the Foundation’s Secretariat, Mr. Othman Skalli Houssaini, mission officer at the Foundation, highlighted the importance of the national competition for memorization, recitation and psalmody of the Holy Quran and the actions undertaken by the Foundation under the leadership of Amir Al Mouminine, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, in the service of Islam and Muslims in Africa.

The organization of the selection phases in Addis Ababa is also part of the cooperation between the ulama of Morocco and Ethiopia, stressed Mr. Skalli Houssaini, noting that this competition aims to encourage African youth to appropriate and apply the noble teachings of Islam and attachment to the Holy Book through its recitation and memorization.

Mr. Skalli Houssaini expressed on this occasion his thanks to the president of the Higher Council for Islamic Affairs in Ethiopia, Sheikh Ibrahim Toufa, for the commendable efforts undertaken for the success of this Koranic competition.
