The concessions of the beaches were mentioned, among others, by the press representative of the Ministry of Finance, Omiros Tsapalos, who spoke to R/S Parapolitika 90.1 fm.
“Centralized electronic auctions were held for beach concessions, the interest of businessmen was so great that we opened additional beaches all over Greece and we have managed and served more than 1,800 and the interest continues,” he noted and added:
Through the mycoast application we also make the citizen a participant in being able to reveal any illegalities, violations on the beaches. This year around 9,000 complaints have been collected, 1,000 of which we examined in the previous five days. We went to 14 beaches that collected 1,000 complaints, we are talking about Halkidiki, Parga, Aegina, Rhodes. In general, the majority of businessmen have complied, however, there were three business sealings.”
“Fines of over 300 thousand euros have been imposed and these fines will continue. The amounts collected by the state in relation to beach concessions are spectacularly higher than in the past. There are some beaches where we managed to get ten times the price of what we used to get in previous years”, he added.
Regarding the automatic submission of tax returns, Mr. Tsapalos emphasized: “This year, for the first time, more than 1.3 million employed-pensioners were given the opportunity to see their pre-filled and automatically submitted return without the intervention of a tax professional or accountant and in fact half a million of them did so and their tax return was automatically submitted, all that is said about massive mistakes, about system failures are exaggerations. We clearly say that these are exaggerations and we must also think about who is affected by these changes. Are some of the accountants and tax professionals affected financially?”
“Of the 1.3 million citizens who had pre-filled declarations, 430 thousand were the ones who wanted not to pay an accountant and to have their tax declaration done automatically. The deadline for submission of declarations is July 26. The submission of tax returns is moving very smoothly, over 4.4 million tax returns have been submitted, if we continue at the same rate there is no reason for any extension”, said Mr. Tsapalos.
