Political parties and movements have a new process ahead of the 2025 elections.

The 2025 elections have a new step, which will be executed by the political parties and movements enabled for the process.

This Friday, June 21, 2024, the National Electoral Council (CNE) approved the call for the Audit Process of political organizations.

Processes for political parties and movements

From 24 to 28 June 2024, political parties and movements eligible to participate in the upcoming elections may apply for the registration of an auditor and a substitute.

Applications must be submitted to the General Secretariat of the CNEin the 24 provincial electoral delegations and in Ecuadorian consular offices abroad.

Training for the 2025 elections

The audit process will start with the induction workshop for qualified and accredited auditors by the CNE. This will take place on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 10:00, in the Auditorium Matilde Hidalgo of the electoral body.

How many political parties and movements are qualified for the 2025 elections?

Last Friday, June 14, 2024, the registration for political parties and movements to participate in the 2025 elections.

In the record of the CNE consist 232 political groups: seven political parties, 10 national movements, 61 provincial, 139 cantonal and 15 parish movements. However, only those of a national character may present binomials. These and the provincial ones, in addition, may present tables for the National AssemblyThere are 78 in this group.

Electoral calendar for the 2025 elections

The registration of candidates will be from September 13 to October 2, 2024. This step also includes a period for challenges. The 2025 election campaign will be from January 5 to February 6, 2025.

The presidential debate will also take place on January 19. The 2025 elections will take place on February 9. This is the date set for the first round. If this is the case, the second round will be on April 13, 2025. The elected officials will serve for the period 2025-2029.
