Arrest warrant issued against opposition member
A Russian court has issued an arrest warrant for exiled opposition figure Yulia Navalnaya, widow of Alexei Navalny, on charges of “participation in an extremist group.”
“Navalnaya has evaded the preliminary investigation, which is why she has been included in the wanted list,” the press service of the Moscow courts said on Telegram. The Moscow Basmanny court also ordered the oppositionist’s arrest. / AFP

Three Ecuadorians arrested with cocaine
The Salvadoran Navy arrested three Ecuadorians who were transporting 750 kilos of cocaine on a boat in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, reported Nayib Bukele.
“Our National Navy intercepted another vessel 610 nautical miles southwest of El Cordoncillo,” the president said in X.
The Ecuadorians transporting the drugs, which have an estimated value of 19 million dollars, “were arrested,” Bukele said. / AFP

Tourist trampled to death by elephant
A Spanish tourist who got out of his car to take photos of a herd of elephants in a park in South Africa was trampled to death by one of the animals, authorities said.
The 43-year-old man died in the Pilanesberg tourist park, about 200 kilometres (125 miles) northwest of Johannesburg, park officials said.
The deceased was accompanied by his fiancée in a private vehicle inside the reserve. / AFP

Bruni, former first lady, is accused
Former first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been charged as part of an investigation into alleged irregular financing of her husband Nicolas Sarkozy’s 2007 campaign with Libyan money, a judicial source said.
Bruni is under investigation for alleged witness tampering (Ziad Takieddine) and is also accused of participating in a criminal association for the purpose of committing judicial fraud, the source said. / AFP
