Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun), which is celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the 8th local government, is conducting the ‘Into the People’s Livelihood’ program, in which the mayor personally visits citizens’ living spaces, workplaces, learning places, and playgrounds to experience their daily lives as part of the ‘Citizens’ Daily Life Care Project.’

If you have ever seen a group of young people running around Uijeongbu, they are probably members of a running crew. Running is a sport that anyone can easily enjoy in their daily lives without any special equipment or skills, and it is gaining popularity among young people who pursue a healthy hobby. In particular, there is a recent trend of forming crews to enjoy running with others.

On June 26, Mayor Kim Dong-geun, who is drawing a picture of ‘Uijeongbu, a city where people want to walk,’ also joined the ranks of a running crew in the city after work.

The 3km city run course, which starts from Uijeongbu Art Library, goes around the Minrak 2nd District shopping street, and returns to the library, is enough for even beginners to enjoy the city scenery while running. The shouts of “Watch out for the floor!” and “Watch out for pedestrians!” for each other’s safety caught the attention of pedestrians.

At the tea party held after the run, where Mayor Kim Dong-geun and the youth gathered in a circle, various stories were shared, including not only about running and marathons, but also about small business owners, youth, newlyweds, and child care.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “This program was a meaningful time to sweat and breathe together with young people, and it was a rewarding time to hear their stories and gain healthy insights.”

Mayor Kim Dong-geun, who is drawing a picture of a ‘city good for business’, visited ‘Jsoop’, a small and medium-sized enterprise located in Ganeung-dong, on July 11.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun met with business representatives to discuss branding and other corporate operations, and expressed his gratitude and encouragement to Jay Forest, which plays a major role in revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs.

In particular, interviews were conducted with employees in charge of Jay Forest’s practical work, such as MD, marketing, and design. The employees unanimously agreed that the priority for job seekers is proximity to work. In addition, ideas were exchanged regarding housing policies that can attract talent to the area from the perspective of practitioners.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “We will create a city of Uijeongbu that is good for business by devising various support measures, such as youth housing and job policies, to create a good work environment.”

‘Into the People’s Livelihood’ is a program where the mayor goes directly to the people’s livelihood site to look into everyday difficulties that can easily be overlooked, breaking away from the existing method of listening to the stories of citizens who come to visit. Mayor Kim Dong-geun plans to continue to discover content closely related to the citizens’ daily lives and look after the people’s livelihood more meticulously.

Meanwhile, the city has established the ‘Citizen Daily Care Project’ to carry out on-site administration that closely examines the daily lives of citizens. It consists of three major strategies and nine tasks, including new policies and various policies in daily life that have been implemented so far: ▲On-site communication platform ▲Problem prevention and resolution through collaboration ▲A society where people take care of each other.
