The international athletics meeting of Greece and Cyprus will be held on the two days of July 31st-August 1st, with SEGAS announcing the composition of our country’s U18 National Team.
Two girls and a boy from the Dodecanese were included in the mission, while another boy was challenged.
Specifically, the mission included Alexandros-Tsambikos Rakopoulos of A.O. Rhodes E.M. Stamatiou who will compete in the hammer throw, Lorena-Marina Hatzileleka of AGES Kameiros who will compete in the pole vault and heptathlete Paraskevi Galanou of A.O. Rhodes E.M. Stamatiou. Manolis Karagounis of AGES Kamiros received an invitation to compete in the pole vault.
In the announcement issued by SEGAS for information, the following are mentioned:
“SEGAS announces the team of the K18 Men-Women category that will represent us at the international meeting between Greece and Cyprus in Eleftheroupoli, Kavala, on the two days of July 31st – August 1st, 2024.
The team is formed based on the criteria established by the Board of Directors. of the Federation, after the holding of the Panhellenic U18 Men’s – Women’s Championship and from the ranking of the athletes in each event.
In the context of the possibilities offered by this event and in order to provide competitive opportunities to as many athletes as possible, 36 more young athletes are invited to participate in the team, who are ranked next in the Panhellenic U18 Championship.
The specific athletes will participate out of competition and the Federation will undertake the confirmation of their participation and the granting of sports clothing. The movement and accommodation of the 36 athletes will be the responsibility and initiative of the athletes’ associations”.
