Requests an investigation by Organized Crime for Mykonos, other islands, Attica and Thessaloniki – Emphasis on investigations for criminal organizations operating in real estate, money laundering, homicides, etc.

The Prosecutor of the Supreme Court gave an order for the immediate investigation of cases with the action of criminal organizations, money laundering, homicides and other serious crimes by local mafias in Mykonos, other islands, Attica and Thessaloniki.
The prosecutor of the supreme court ordered the prosecuting officer who is responsible and supervises the organized crime services to move immediately to investigate cases of serious crime, mainly in Mykonos, but not only, after the brutal murder of the 54-year-old surveyor in Psychiko.
For the investigation of the most serious crimes, the Prosecutor orders the use of all necessary means, the lifting of telephone confidentiality and the lifting of other confidentiality, banking, tax, etc. and requests immediate information.
Her order in detail:
Supervising the Security Directorate of Attica in the prosecution of Organized Crime and President of the Coordination Council for Analysis and Investigations of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, the recent murder of P. S., a surveying engineer, in Psychiko, highlighted the urgent need to deal with serious crime, characterized by type as the “Mafia of Mykonos”, on the island, with the activation and utilization of appropriate mechanisms for this purpose, which the State has at its disposal.
From the press releases attached hereto in conjunction with the 8/7/2024 report of a resident of Mykonos which is also attached and was received by the Directorate of Electronic Crime Prosecution, it was submitted to us on 9/7/2024 by the Directorate Attica Security Authority, highlights as absolutely necessary the investigation of serious crimes which probably constitute actions of organized crime, but also related criminal acts (formation, management, etc. of a criminal organization, criminal extortions connected with the building/construction activity, the buying and selling of real estate as well as the “protection” of businesses, homicides, grievous bodily harm, money laundering from criminal activity, serious delinquency with regard to urban planning legislation, legislation for the protection of antiquities, the environment, drug trafficking, forgeries, etc.). The above criminal activity is not limited to the island of Mykonos, but seems to extend to other islands of the Cyclades, even to Athens and Thessaloniki.
In view of the above, we ask for your legal actions, including the activation of your independently recognized right to conduct a preliminary examination or preliminary investigation (article 4 par.3 of Law 2265/1994, as applicable), in cooperation with the already undertaken Directorate of Security of Attica, as well as the utilization of all your procedural possibilities (removal of telephone confidentiality, conducting investigations, special investigative acts, etc.), in order to combat the above criminal activity and restore the illegality.
Finally, please inform the competent Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court about the progress of your investigations.
