/ On Sunday, the Jordanian security authorities launched a war against users and dealers of the drug “crystal” in particular, through intensive security campaigns.

Al Arabiya Net reported that the Jordanian Public Security Directorate launched these campaigns in conjunction with an awareness campaign against the deadly substance to spread community awareness about it and inform society of its dangerous and deadly harms, and to motivate them to contribute to confronting it and preventing young people from using it and reporting any activity related to it.

The media spokesman for the Public Security Directorate, Colonel Amer Al-Saratawi, told Al Arabiya.net that the campaign aims to confront this deadly substance and create community awareness against it after recording an increase in the number of its users and its spread among young people without their knowledge of the extent of its danger and its deadly and life-destroying effects, in addition to the lies that they are being lured with to try it and use it by the death merchants that it is a stimulant, aphrodisiac and a sexual enhancer.

“Devil’s Drug”

Al-Saratawi added that crystal meth, shabu, the devil’s drug, or ice are all trade names for one chemical substance, methamphetamine, which is a highly toxic and dangerous substance that comes in the form of powder or crystal granules.

It can also cause addiction from the first dose a person takes, and it pushes the person to increase the dose and repeat it to meet the body’s need for it as a result of addiction, which accelerates the appearance of its dangerous symptoms that may lead to death or self-inflicted wounds.

According to Al-Saratwi, crystal meth is a deadly substance for humans and can cause addiction from the first dose, and treatment is very difficult.

This substance also causes serious health problems for its users, as it causes damage to the nervous system, mental disturbance, hallucinations, severe insomnia, lack of sleep for days on end, high temperature, increased blood pressure and heart rate, weakness, depression, tooth loss, lung infections, and causes severe aggressive behavior in its users.

Agressive behaviour

All of this makes this chemical substance a danger that threatens its users and everyone around them, as it pushes them to kill themselves or kill others or commit any crime without knowing everything that is going on around them, in addition to aggressive behavior and lack of awareness of place and time and seeing and imagining auditory, visual and sensory things that do not exist in the first place and dealing with them as if they are reality.

The Anti-Narcotics Department called on the national media and all members of society to contribute to spreading awareness against this substance and to directly report any information about it, its dealers and promoters, due to the danger it poses to society and its members.
