Rabat – The stand of the General Secretariat of the Government at the 29th International Book and Publishing Fair (SIEL) welcomed, on Friday, the professor and international expert in artificial intelligence (AI) and international relations, Fatima Roumate, to present her latest work “Artificial intelligence and the new world order: new weapons, new wars and new balances of power”.
This meeting is part of the program of activities developed by the General Secretariat for this edition and demonstrates its support for the ongoing legal discussions on the importance of AI and the means of regulating it in order to ensure legal protection, in accordance with the recommendations issued by UNESCO on the ethics of AI and according to a participatory approach, indicates the General Secretariat of the government in a press release.
In this book, the author presents “the theory of artificial intelligence”, which considers AI as necessary to understand current international relations and anticipate future changes, being at the heart of the international debate on the regulation of AI and its ethics, while evoking Morocco’s commitment to international efforts deployed in this regard, adds the same source.
Furthermore, the presentation of this work, the press release continues, demonstrates the interest given by the General Secretariat of the Government to the study, presented by the writer, of post-pandemic international developments, and to the alternative solutions that she proposes, by examining the challenges posed by AI at the level of public international law in all its branches, including international human rights law, international economic law and international humanitarian law, with a particular emphasis on international and regional mechanisms of AI ethics, as well as comparative legislation in this area.
