Organizers of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris have expanded the program to include four additional sports.
As reported by İdman.biz, they noted that the IOC aims to set new Olympic standards aimed at youth.
Breaking
Breaking is a discipline of the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF). In 2018, it was included in the program of the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. And in 2020, the IOC announced the official inclusion of breaking in the program of the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
Sport climbing
Sport climbing made its debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 2021. Two competitions will be held in Paris: speed climbing and a combined bouldering and lead climbing tournament.
In bouldering, you have to complete a series of short routes on a 4.5 m high wall with a time limit and a number of attempts. In speed climbing, athletes overcome a 15 m high wall with a 5° slope. In difficulty climbing, climbers climb a wall over 15 m high with a safety net; in 6 minutes, athletes must climb as high as possible along the route without planning the route in advance.
Skateboarding
Skateboarding is the sport of moving, riding and performing tricks on a special lightweight board, a skateboard. In the second half of the 20th century, skateboarding was an important part of street culture, and at the beginning of the 21st century it became a recognized professional sport. For the first time, skateboarding was included in the program of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Surfing
Surfing is a competition for speed and distance of movement on surf waves. Athletes perform various tricks on boards. When evaluating the performance, the level of difficulty, speed of movement, smoothness of execution, and diversity are taken into account. The first Olympic tournaments for men and women were held at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
