Sometimes the logic of the “double programs” – these evenings with two equivalent artists or from the same family – proposed by Mathieu Jaton loses its sharpness. On Thursday, the Scène du lac welcomed Roisin Murphy, an Irish singer known for her singing in the group 90s Moloko, and supposed to be on par with the antediluvian Kraftwerk to follow…

After Naomh Gall on June 29, this whimsical figure of renewed electro pop opened his show with a promising track from his former group, “Pure Pleasure Seeker”. The song, almost a quarter of a century old, brought back good memories for old fans of this duo who discreetly marked the end of the last century.

Clubbing and camping

After this almost nostalgic introduction, the performer, in a low-cut white leotard, revue leader’s jacket and headgear, moved on to harder sound substances, in a campy clubbing mode testing an amateur DJ Trance amp… Painful.

The musical drama of his concert will not go further, despite the costume changes, the games with a stage camera on a huge screen blocking the view of Lake Geneva and the attack of the crocus-roses putting bloody petals on his feet.

A vaguely radiant pop moment gives way to a clumsy (or malevolent?) sonic dough that kneads it into an informal but overpowering sound. Even the voice of the underground diva eventually disappeared, losing the cruel magic that was once a trademark of the muse Pucci: not one song was in the charts for 15 years. Neither the sun nor the rain can do anything about it. We would love it. Disappointment.

Kraftwerk, still on the keyboard after half a century of kilobits.

In this way, Kraftwerk veterans brought out their computer hardware and binary storms to do what they had been expected to do for at least twenty years with anticipated know-how. But the days of visiting the museum were over. Beep. We unplug.
