Sometimes the logic of the “double bills” – these evenings with two equivalent artists or from the same family – proposed by Mathieu Jaton goes forward. On Thursday, the Scène du lac welcomed Roisin Murphy, an Irish singer known for her performances in the group nineties Moloko, and supposed to be on par with the antediluvian Kraftwerk to follow…

After Naomh Gall on June 29, this whimsical figure of renewed electro pop opened his show with a full title promise from his former group, “Pure Pleasure Irrthóir”. The piece, almost a quarter of a century old, brought back good memories for former fans of this duo, which ended the last century discreetly.

Clubbing and camping

After this almost nostalgic introduction, the performer, wearing a low-cut white leotard, jacket and the look of a revue leader, moved on to harder sonic substances, camped out in clubbing mode testing a DJ Trance amp amateur… Painful.

The musical drama of his concert would not go much further, despite the costume changes, the games with a stage camera on the giant screen blocking the view of Lake Geneva and a bout of rose eating bloody petals at his feet.

A small, vague moment of pop music gives way to an informal but overpowering sound dough that kneads it into a clumsy (or malicious?) dough. Even the voice of the underground diva eventually faded away, losing the cruel magic that was once the trademark of the muse Pucci – who has not been a chart-topper for 15 years. Neither the sun nor the rain could do anything about it. But we want to love him. Disappointment.

In the process, Kraftwerk veterans took out their computer equipment and binary storms to do what they had been waiting for at least two decades with projected know-how. But the time for the museum visit was over. Beeep. We unplug.
