British police announced today that they have made an arrest in connection with the deaths of two men whose body parts were found in discarded suitcases in the southwestern English city of Bristol, the Associated Press reported.
The London Borough Police said officers arrested a 34-year-old suspect at a train station in Bristol earlier today. Police also said human remains were also found at an address in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, yesterday. There are suspicions of a link between them and the body parts found in the suitcases near the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.
A team of forensic experts investigated the alleged crime scene in Shepherd’s Bush this morning, AP said, citing BTA.
The arrested suspect “will be taken to London for questioning later today,” police said in a statement. “A thorough investigation is underway, and at this stage the police are not looking for another suspect in connection with the case,” law enforcement authorities added. Police announced earlier this week that they were seeking to locate Colombian national Yostin Andres Mosquera in order to bring him in for questioning.
Officers were called to Bristol’s iconic Clifton Bridge around midnight on Wednesday, ten minutes after reports of a man behaving strangely. However, the man who went there by taxi had already left. Police said the taxi was impounded for evidence and the driver was assisting with the investigation.
The victims have not been officially identified, but both are believed to be underage. Autopsy results have been declared “inconclusive” and a second examination of the bodies is currently underway.
A 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with the investigation yesterday in Greenwich, South East London, but was later released by police without charge.
