A number of countries have accused Yerevan of incorrectly launching two satellites into space (Ayasat-1 and Armsat-1), which are now interfering with the spacecraft of other countries.

As reported by Day.Az with reference to Armenian media, they were allegedly launched into space unprofessionally, the orbits were not properly calculated, etc.

According to the information, all the blame is now being placed on the former Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Avet Poghosyan, who supervised Armenia’s space program. Before that, he worked as a taxi driver in the United States. At the moment, the taxi driver-minister has already been relieved of his post.

The Armsat-1 satellite, manufactured for Armenia by the Spanish company Satlantis, was launched in May 2022. Poghosyan claims that this is a private project related to Armenia only because of the license to carry out space activities. The second satellite, Hayasat-1, is the first Armenian-made satellite, launched into orbit on December 1, 2023, from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
