In the opening match of the tournament, the advantage of the Lithuanians began to emerge in the first minutes. After the first quarter, our team already had a double lead – 24:12. During the second quarter, the lead grew even faster – just before the end of the first part, the teams were separated by 30 points – 50:20.
After the break, Lithuania’s dominance continued to remain unquestioned, but the Icelanders managed to break through the basket with several well-aimed shots and the Lithuanians won the third quarter with a small margin – 18:16 (70:37). Finally, in the last ten minutes, the lead decreased a little, but the final siren still announced the unquestionable victory of the Lithuanians.
Lithuanian front line basketball players had no equal on the floor, all of them scored double doubles. Paulius Murauskas scored 19 points (5/5 doubles, 3/3 triples), rebounded 12 balls and accumulated 33 utility points in just 19 minutes. Motiejus Krivas added 10 rebounds and 22 assists to his 17 points, while Matas Vokietaitis recorded a performance of 12 points, 11 rebounds and 18 assists.
