For the first time as royal couple: Frederik X and Mary of Denmark greet fans during the changing of the guard in the courtyard of their summer residence.
The next premiere for King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark: For the first time, they appeared as the new royal couple at the changing of the guard in the castle courtyard of their summer residence. “Many Grasten citizens and tourists gathered on site to watch the spectacle and pay homage to Their Majesties, who are currently residing at Grasten Castle,” the palace commented on photos of the royal event on Instagram.
The social media team further explained: “It is tradition that the Royal Guard marches through the city every day during the Regent’s stay at the South Jutland Castle for the guard parade, and every Friday the changing of the guard ends with an atmospheric concert in the castle courtyard.”
Four of the six photos show the royal couple in decidedly casual clothing. Mary is wearing a summery long white skirt, a top in the same color and over that a long loose jacket with a blue, brown and white batik design. Light mules and sunglasses complete the look. The queen’s hair is styled loosely in the middle. The monarch presented himself at the appointment in a light blue short-sleeved shirt, beige fabric trousers and dark loafers with a check pattern on the top.
One of the photos shows another particularly cute moment between Australian-born Mary and one of her dogs. In all the hustle and bustle, the Australian Shepherd and his owner actually find the time for a cuddle. Most recently, a fluffy dog in rainy Greenland received a cuddle from the beaming queen. This was also captured in a photo.
At the Royal Run in May, Mary proudly presented herself between her two well-behaved dogs. “My two running buddies are disappointed that they cannot run with me…”, the Queen wrote in a photo.
Frederik succeeded his mother, Queen Margrethe II, to the Danish throne at the beginning of January. Since then, the royal couple has experienced one premiere after another.
