Khalid Saifullah Jihad as convenor and Zubair Hasib as member secretary has been formed as the convening committee of Dhaka University branch of Bangladesh Chhatra Paksha. On Friday (July 12), the 11-member convening committee was announced by Akib Hasan, office secretary of the Central Committee of Chhatra Paksha.
At that time, he said, Dhaka University is the center of student politics in Bangladesh. The students of Dhaka University have played an important role in the mass movement for the realization of every right, starting from the language movement. Today, the formation of the organization’s committee in Dhaka University gives me hope. I believe that the newly elected leaders will play a vocal role in realizing the rights of the students of Dhaka University by keeping the pledge mentioned in the Declaration of Independence.
Saraf Anjum Bibha, Assistant Member Secretary of the Central Committee, said that the main goal of our organization is to develop students as politically aware citizens in the light of the three principles mentioned in the Declaration of Independence – equality, human dignity and social justice. To fulfill that goal Bangladesh Chhatra Paksha will work with students to build Bangladesh.
Khalid Saifullah Jihad, the newly elected convenor of DU Students’ Party, said that the freedom fighters of this country are the best children of the nation. The state will ensure their dignity and social security. The freedom fighters took part in the armed struggle with the promise that the state will not show discrimination under any circumstances. Their dream was to make the state non-discriminatory. So, the government needs to take swift action on the issue of quota reform. There will be no discrimination in Bengal during the liberation war.
After the formation of the committee, the newly elected member secretary Zubair Haseeb presented six-point demands to realize the rights of the students of Dhaka University and solve the problems.
He said basic facilities like accommodation, safe campus, job security are the right of students. But, even after hundred years of establishment of the university, none of the fundamental problems of the students have been solved. In the coming days, the students will work tirelessly to get the rights of the students.
Students’ assistant financial secretary Tanzina Jui, Arpita Shireen Swarna, Khalid Hasan Margh, Rafiqul Sourav, Hriday Ahmed Sani, Asif Adnan, Farzana Rupanti, Saikat Islam and others were present on this occasion.
