The Iraqi Premier League for Professional Football for the current season concludes this evening, Sunday, with five matches for the 38th and final round, most notably the derby match between the competition champion, Al-Shorta, and its counterpart, Al-Zawraa, at Al-Shaab International Stadium. The match will witness the coronation ceremony of Al-Qithara with the first place award.
Al-Akhdar seeks to end the season in the best possible way, by deciding the result of the popular derby, intoxicated by winning the league and cup titles.
On the other hand, Al-Zawraa seeks to achieve the twenty-second victory in its current participation, to be a good conclusion to the Seagulls’ journey in the current season, which it left empty-handed, after coming in third in the league competition, behind the champion Al-Shorta and the runner-up Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, while it bid farewell to the Iraq Cup Championship in the semi-finals.
In turn, Al-Jawiya will be a candidate to excel in today’s match, when it faces Naft Al-Wasat, in light of the technical differences. The Falcons team left with a zero season after losing the Cup final against Al-Shorta, while it won the league runner-up position.
In another match, Dohuk hopes to reconcile with its fans when it hosts Naft Maysan. The victory was absent from the Falcons of the Mountains in the last three matches, as it was satisfied with two points from two draws against Naft and Mina, and in return it lost against Al-Shorta, so it looks at today’s match as a gateway to compensation. In the rest of today’s matches, Al-Hudood plays against Al-Karkh, and Newroz plays against Erbil.
