Former leader of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi defended that President Joe Biden must decide whether or not to run for the White House. “It is up to the President to decide whether to run. We are all encouraged to make that decision, because time is running out”, she said when asked if she supports the candidacy.
Biden’s ally, who is a very influential person within the Democratic party, spoke on the program “Morning Joe”, for MSNBC channel. He expressed that “the American leader is loved and respected” and that people want him to make a decision. He was unclear, however, about what he thought was the best way forward.

When the journalist insisted that he supported Biden’s candidacy, as the President made it clear that the decision to run for a new term was made, Pelosi simply said: “I want him to do whatever he decides to do. That’s how it is. Whatever he decides, we support.”
In the last few days, there has been a lot of speculation about Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race for the White House. Senior sources close to the North American leader even told Reuters that Kamala Harris is the first choice in the event of a withdrawal.

Nancy Pelosi already considered it legitimate to question the president’s health: “I think it’s legitimate to ask whether this is a simple episode or a long-term condition”, he said on another occasion on MSNBC, referring to his performance in the debate against Donald Trump. Some members of the Democratic party went further, such as Congressman Lloyd Doggett, who was the first Democratic lawmaker to publicly call on Joe Biden to drop out of the White House race. The President has already ruled out this hypothesis.
“Let me tell you clearly: I am the sitting President of the United States, I am the candidate of the Democratic Party, I will stay in the race”, he said last Friday at a campaign event in Wisconsin. “I will beat Donald Trump”he declared, saying he was not going to let “90 minutes of debate destroy three and a half years of work”.
