Brasilia: After several failed attempts by police and agencies of several countries to catch Brazilian drug lord Ronald Roland, he has finally been arrested. This happened when his second wife Andreja de Lima Joel accidentally revealed her location in her social media post. A police team was monitoring de Lima’s social media account. Finally, they got success in this, when Lima also told along with her photos in which part of the world she was. This brought the police into action immediately and finally caught Ronald.
De Lima’s Instagram posts and photos have shown her in cities like Paris, Dubai, the Maldives and Colombia. Last week, De Lima posted a photo that included a specific landmark. This gave the police what they were looking for. It helped them pinpoint her exact location. Police and agencies then tracked her whereabouts and eventually led to her arrest.

Ronald’s property around the world

Rowland was arrested on Tuesday from his condominium in the coastal city of Guaruja on suspicion of running a huge money laundering racket in Mexico and supplying drug cartels. According to local police, the drug lord amassed a fortune of £860.2 million in five years, which he sold through more than 100 shell companies and businesses. His wife was also involved in criminal activities.

After Rowland’s arrest, a case related to drug trafficking and escaping organized crime has been registered against him. Interestingly, when Rowland was arrested in 2019, his ex-wife had similarly revealed the location on social media. His ex-wife had tagged the place where the couple was staying in a post on social media.

According to reports, police started tracking Roland in 2012 when he was a pilot in an airline. The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) sent a letter to the Brazilian Federal Police informing them about an investigation into a group of Brazilian pilots involved in cocaine smuggling. Roland then became the target of a Brazilian police team working against drug trafficking networks.
