President Daniel Noboa held a meeting with Arthur W. Brown, the new United States ambassador to the country. The meeting took place this Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the yellow room of the Carondelet Palace.

Brown presented his credentials to the Ecuadorian president and was introduced to the rest of the Cabinet. The representative of Joe Biden’s government replaced Michael Fitzpatrick, who remained in office from 2019 to 2024.

The diplomat highlighted Ecuador as one of the most important allies of the United States in the region and invited the Head of State to continue joint cooperation between both countries, especially on issues such as security.

Institutional continuity is the cornerstone of American diplomacy. As U.S. Ambassador to Ecuador, I will continue to build on the foundation of our collaboration,” Brown said in a statement released by the U.S. Embassy.

Since June 18, Ambassador Brown will lead the United States Diplomatic Mission to collaborate with the National Government in areas such as strengthening democracy, human rights, security, migration, promoting economic development, boosting the private sector and environmental conservation, among others.
